Zatul may speak about incorporating Artsakh into Russia and making Russian an official language
Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatuline considers the discussions about incorporating Nagorno-Karabakh into Russia to be a product of imagination. During an online press briefing on the multimedia platform of Sputnik Armenia, the politician stated that he has recently met many individuals who seriously talk about wanting Nagorno-Karabakh to be part of Russia.
“Of course, these are fantasies; it is a project that will not be realized for both principled and definite political reasons. But the fact remains: the parliament in Nagorno-Karabakh is now discussing the issue of adopting the Russian language as another state (official) language,” said the deputy. From his point of view, this circumstance speaks to an increase in Russian presence.
He revealed that Russia intends to soon implement a major humanitarian project in Nagorno-Karabakh. The political figure also believes that despite the five-year mandate established by the November 9, 2020 trilateral agreement regarding the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, Russia has come to stay permanently. Moreover, according to Zatuline, in the coming years, there should be a strengthening of the Russian contingent in the Syunik region. At the same time, he emphasized that this is his personal expert opinion.
