Court Hearing in the Case of Kocharian and Others Postponed
The hearing in the case of Armenia's second president Robert Kocharian and others has been postponed at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Anna Danibekyan. This information was reported by Aysor.am.
Today, former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan's lawyer Erik Aleksanyan requested to postpone the court hearing, stating that his client has taken a coronavirus test and, therefore, is not present at the hearing.
Prosecutor Gevorg Baghdasaryan asked the court not to consider the absence as justifiable.
Defense attorney Erik Aleksanyan argued that taking a coronavirus test cannot be for the sake of it alone, as there are symptoms indicating that a person may be infected with the virus. “I believe that Gevorg Baghdasaryan’s statement is unfounded, and I request that the court not allow evaluations regarding the behavior of a person who is absent from the hearing,” said Gevorgyan's lawyer.
The lawyer called on the judge to restore order, preventing the prosecution from interfering with his speech.
The judge accepted the request, postponing the court hearing, with the next session scheduled for March 9 at 13:00.
