Azerbaijanis Temporarily Use the Road Passing Through the Red Market, Says Artsakh President's Spokesperson
The Azerbaijani side can publish a whole list of desires, proposals, and demands to stir up the Armenian information space. Linking the use of the road passing through the Red Market by Azerbaijanis to the return of prisoners is part of this series. Lusine Avanesyan, the spokesperson for the President of Artsakh, stated this in a conversation with ‘Artsakhpress,’ referring to information circulating on Telegram channels that Azerbaijanis are requesting joint use of the road in exchange for promising the return of 30 prisoners of war, which, it is alleged, has been agreed upon by the authorities of Artsakh and Armenia.
“The issue is being brought up once again, and I must state again that this is misinformation. Those spreading it know very well that even today, Azerbaijanis are temporarily using this road under the escort of Russian peacekeepers. However, this cannot mean 'joint use,' as this road entirely belongs to the Republic of Artsakh, and the issue of its status change cannot be discussed at all,” Avanesyan emphasized.
The spokesperson also spoke about the escorting of pilgrims visiting Amaras by Russian peacekeepers. She noted that the security of Amaras is ensured by the Defense Army, and the monastery is always open to all pilgrims. “Although the pilgrims can visit the Amaras monastery without escort, because it is under our control, due to its proximity to the frontline, sometimes larger groups of pilgrims prefer to receive additional security guarantees,” highlighted Avanesyan.
