Tigran Avinyan: We Did Not Say That There Will Be No Snap Parliamentary Elections

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan addressed the issue of whether snap parliamentary elections are on the horizon during an interview with Public Television. Recently, the government stated that there is no public demand for such elections, while today during a rally, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan suggested the possibility of holding snap parliamentary elections.

“There is political tension, and we must reach some form of final resolution. We are willing to talk to all parties; from the very first day, we have been ready, and we proposed the agenda for snap parliamentary elections. There hasn't been significant response to that agenda. Now, the new leader of the 'Bright Armenia' party, Edmon Marukyan, has taken another step to bring opposition representatives closer to snap elections, and we are reopening that agenda. For us, that agenda has not been definitively closed; we have not said that there will be no snap parliamentary elections. We made a proposal, and there has been no demand from the other side. Now that there is once again this proposal, we say let's talk and come to an agreement,” he stated.
