The Head of the State Revenue Committee Meets with Over 400 Major Taxpayers

The President of the State Revenue Committee and his deputies have met with over 400 major taxpayers in the republic to address business concerns, suggestions, and to agree on future cooperation pathways. This meeting concluded a series of discussions that began on February 10 in the context of strengthening the partnership between tax authorities and taxpayers, aimed at discussing issues related to the tax and customs sectors.

Summarizing the results of 2020, which was filled with challenges and complexities, the President of the SRM emphasized the significant role of major taxpayers in ensuring annual indicators: "The contribution of major taxpayers to the total tax revenues is substantial, accounting for 71.1% or AMD 773.3 billion, which is both an honorable and a responsible indicator for you. We value the participation of major taxpayers in business processes and therefore regard you as key players in ensuring tax revenues."

Edward Hovhannisyan highlighted the collaborative nature of the meeting, which will help clarify the mutual responsibilities with taxpayers: "The committee prioritizes the quality of services provided, as evidenced by numerous works done in this direction. We value mutual readiness and practical steps to strengthen the SRM-business partnership platform," the head of the committee emphasized.

At the same time, the SRM president pointed out frequent violations among major taxpayers, reminding that the committee continues to develop its analytical capabilities and control tools. He called for raising awareness of issues that could underlie violations, with the aim of resolving them within the scope of SRM's authority and providing necessary preconditions for the manifestation of lawful business behavior in the future.

Informing that for the first time, the decision on a taxpayer's lawful status will be enshrined in the RA Tax Code, the committee head indicated that after the adoption of the project, lawful businesses will be able to benefit from a range of privileges: "As an established business, we expect first and foremost lawful behavior from you, which can also influence the approach of other stakeholders in the business field."

Present taxpayers raised various questions related to their activities, including issues concerning the rapid customs clearance of goods, the determination of customs value, as well as stamps and the issuance of accounting documents. In addition to Edward Hovhannisyan, the deputies of the SRM president answered these questions according to their respective areas of coordination. In order to discuss specific questions raised by participants, which require in-depth exploration, and to find joint solutions, the committee head has instructed to organize working meetings with interested parties in the following days.
