President Armen Sarkissian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Meet Today
The President of the Republic, Armen Sarkissian, and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met today. Since President Armen Sarkissian is unwell, the Prime Minister visited him with the aim of a discussion.
“Naturally, the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister also addressed the country’s internal political situation. Other information being circulated is absolutely false and is an attempt to escalate an already tense situation. Once again, we urge to refrain from spreading provocative and false information. At the same time, we reiterate that the President of the Republic is guided solely by the Constitution and the national and state interests, acting within his constitutional powers,” the statement from the President's Office reads.
Earlier, we reported that the armed forces of Armenia demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government, which was followed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Facebook live stream, during which he announced his decision to dismiss the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan, and had sent a corresponding decree to President Armen Sarkissian. However, President Sarkissian returned the draft decree on dismissing Onik Gasparyan as Chief of Staff. Nevertheless, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not accept this decision and sent another decree to the President with additional justifications for dismissing the Chief of Staff.
