Pashinyan on the Need to Transition to a Semi-Presidential Governance System
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a rally that it is time to acknowledge the need to work towards adopting a new Constitution or constitutional amendments through a nationwide referendum this October, noting that transitioning to a semi-presidential governance system should be one of the possible options.
He emphasized that this process should be carried out in close cooperation with the National Assembly, the government, the President of Armenia, political parties, and civil society. “In the upcoming month, we must work on finalizing the articles that can be approved based on the votes and discussions in the National Assembly,” Pashinyan stated.
He pointed out that their primary task should be to create constitutional frameworks that guarantee security and stability in Armenia.
