Let's Go to the People and See Whose Resignation They Demand, Says Pashinyan
“If first of all the parliamentary forces accept our proposal, which was formulated at the end of December, then yes, we will agree to extraordinary parliamentary elections, because we are convinced that the people are capable of establishing legitimate authority in Armenia through their free expression of will,” said Nikol Pashinyan during a rally.
He noted that the opposition had the opportunity to show that the people demanded his resignation, but they failed to do so.
“I am giving a second opportunity, I am throwing down the challenge, let’s go to the people and see whose resignation is being demanded by the people,” Pashinyan said.
He stated that not only were they in favor of holding elections, but they had also already thought of several slogans to participate in those elections, one of which was “End to Velvet.”
“No force should emerge victorious in Armenia. Only one force—the people. The remaining forces, the political forces, the Armed Forces, all forces must unconditionally obey the legitimate authority, and there is simply no other option,” Pashinyan declared.
Pashinyan announced that the rally he convened would conclude with a march dedicated to the memory of the March 1 victims, which would start from Mashtots Avenue, continue through Koryun and then Abovyan streets, and finally, flowers would be laid at the statue of Myasnikyan in memory of the March 1 victims.
