Is Pashinyan Intentionally or Unintentionally Pushing Onik Gasparyan to Take Drastic Actions?
The head of the "Henchak" analytical club, Tigran Abrahamyan, addressed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's speech today on his Facebook page.
"If we consider the part of Nikol Pashinyan's speech related to Chief of General Staff Onik Gasparyan, it is, to put it mildly, contradictory and does not fit into logic. First, Pashinyan states that 'at this point, the Armed Forces and Onik Gasparyan have not crossed any red lines,' then in the next statement, he claims that General Gasparyan has committed treason. If Onik Gasparyan, according to Pashinyan, has not crossed any red lines, how can it be that he has committed treason?"
"Second, the accusation of treason against the number one military official of the country is presented not by an ordinary Facebook user, but by the country's Prime Minister. Prime Minister Pashinyan speaks about the 'treason' of the Chief of the General Staff with a serious expression on his face, then he is seen shouting 'funeral march' while leaving. I still do not know whether it is intentional or unintentional, but Pashinyan is pushing the army and personally Onik Gasparyan to take drastic actions. One thing is for sure: accusations against the armed forces and its commander should not go unanswered. Necessary steps should be considered in legal, political, and moral dimensions."
