US Embassy in Armenia Urges Immediate Clarification on Boeing 737's Location and Status
The US Embassy in Armenia has urged for clarity on the location of the Boeing 737 aircraft. “The US government is aware of claims that an aircraft registered under a Armenian company has diverted to Iran. We urge all parties involved to immediately clarify the location and status of the aircraft.
According to US legislation, the transfer or provision of American-made aircraft and aviation parts to Iran is prohibited. Entities involved in such actions may fall under US sanctions,” the embassy stated in response to an inquiry from Tert.am.
It is noteworthy that the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia had issued a statement regarding the disappearance of the aircraft. In connection with reports circulating in the media since February 22, 2021, which claim that the Boeing 737 aircraft has been hijacked, the Civil Aviation Committee stated that it has not received officially confirmed information regarding the hijacking from relevant authorities.
“At the same time, we find it necessary to mention that the Committee is aware of the aircraft's location and is currently working closely with the aviation authorities of relevant countries. After the investigation is concluded, the Committee will provide additional information,” the message from civil aviation stated.
