Two Facts I Want to Emphasize: Nikol Pashinyan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has made a post on his Facebook page, which we present below.

“Two facts I want to emphasize. By the government decision, from June 1, 2019, the monthly net salary of Armenian army servicemen has increased as follows:

• Company commander – 22,000 drams, 4.6 percent;
• Deputy company commander – 51,000 drams, 12.7 percent;
• Battalion commander – 88,000 drams, 23 percent;
• Platoon commander – 97,000 drams, 32.6 percent;
• Squad commander – 72,000 drams, 26.2 percent;
• Senior private – 38,000 drams, 18 percent;
• Contract private – 23,000 drams, 13.7 percent;
• Contract sergeant (passed training) - 49,000 drams, 22 percent.

In the 2020 budget, the Ministry of Defense has been allocated 307 billion drams, which exceeds the actual figure for 2018 by 28 percent or 66 billion drams, and is about 4.5 percent higher compared to 2017’s actual figure. Since May 2018, the Republic of Armenia has acquired an unprecedented amount of weapons and ammunition compared to previous visible periods.

The armed forces have been supplemented with anti-air defense systems, artillery systems, anti-aircraft units, firearms, ammunition, and 310 units of automotive equipment. By the way, our Ministry of Defense and the General Staff have determined what to purchase, and the government has provided the necessary funds.”
