Residents of Shahumyan Village Block Route from Vanadzor to Dilijan
At 22:00 today, residents of Shahumyan village in the Lori region blocked the Vanadzor-Dilijan highway. The reason, according to the villagers, is a session currently underway in the Lori region court, discussing the measure of restraint for five individuals arrested following a dispute that took place in the village on February 9.
In an interview with "Armenian Time", the father of two of the defendants, Vruyr Martirosyan, stated that a decision has already been made to arrest one of his sons. The cases of the others are still under review.
It is noted that on that day, five residents of Shahumyan were arrested due to a domestic dispute. Martirosyan also assured that the injured party from the dispute has no complaint or demands, yet the regional prosecutor's office is exerting pressure on them.
After keeping the road blocked for about an hour, participants of the protest moved towards the Lori region court.
