What Does the Statement from the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff Mean? The Army Will Enter Yerevan, Analyst Clarifies
If the police attempt to use force, and the only leverage this government has is force, the army will enter Yerevan. Political analyst Stepan Danielyan wrote this on his Facebook page.
“What does the statement from the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff mean? In the statement, it says, ‘Given the current situation, the Armenian Armed Forces demand the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government, while simultaneously warning against using force against the people whose children have died defending the Homeland and Artsakh.’
What does that mean? It means a straightforward thing: the army demands the government’s resignation and warns that it will not allow the use of police force because it stands with the people. To elaborate further, if the police attempt to use force, and the only leverage this government has is force, the army will enter Yerevan. The next step will be that the police will lower their shields.
There are two paths: either the government announces its resignation today, or people enter the government building and remove the political corpse from its cabinet on their own, while the police do not resist. That’s it,” he wrote.
