Artsakh is Without Power. Residents Connect it to Internal Events in Armenia

The entire territory of Artsakh has been left without power today, February 25. In a conversation with NEWS.am, Vahram Poghosyan, head of the Information Department of the Artsakh Presidential Administration, stated that the electricity was disconnected around 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM and has been off since.

“Artsakhenergo” LLC reported that there was an accident at the station supplying Artsakh, and emergency recovery work is taking place,” said Poghosyan.

In our conversation, Metakse Hakobyan, a member of the Artsakh National Assembly from the “Justice” faction, attributed the power outage to ongoing processes in Armenia. “We have often thought that it is simply a coincidence, but this is already the fourth time when there is a complete power outage in Artsakh right before a significant movement is expected in Armenia. Of course, it is explained that an accident has occurred, that there is some problem, and the power is off for a long time, affecting not just one part of Artsakh but the entire territory. Today was no different; as soon as the opposition announced they would gather at Freedom Square at 3:00 PM, Artsakh lost power just minutes later.”

Hakobyan noted that messages have been sent to subscribers asking for their understanding and informing them that the power outage is due to an accident. “From ‘Artsakhenergo,’ no timelines have been given for when electricity will be restored. Most likely, there will still be no power tonight. It is cold in Artsakh, around -7 to -10 °C,” she added.

“People are regularly calling from various regions of our small Republic, asking about the situation. You know, everything is taken very seriously here; many fear that there will be another war. Some interpret it as Araik Harutyunyan punishing the people because today the people of Artsakh expressed their support for the Armenian army; if not the residents of Artsakh, then who should stand by the Armenian army? Everyone here understands that our army hasn’t lost; they are always victorious. From the Prime Minister’s statements, it is clear that they are trying to blame the loss, which occurred due to treasonous actions, on the army,” stated Hakobyan.

It is noteworthy that today the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia issued a statement demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government. According to the General Staff, the Prime Minister and the government are no longer capable of making adequate decisions in this critical and fateful situation for the Armenian people. Against the backdrop of the General Staff's statement, gatherings have been organized by both the authorities and the opposition in Armenia.
