Andranik Kocharyan: Is He the Next President of Armenia?
Recently, we have continuously received reports that Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the "IQUI" faction, is conducting secret consultations with various members of parliament and officials from the security bloc. Allegedly, they are working on a plan that has been coordinated with Nikol Pashinyan, referred to as the government’s new "Plan B."
According to this plan, at an opportune moment, ruling party MPs will raise the issue of confidence in the Prime Minister in parliament, leading to discussions and ultimately an unexpected vote of no confidence.
It is reported that Andranik Kocharyan is the most experienced in this scenario, currently overseeing several security officials — initially by their official positions and later by his own lobbying efforts, notably involving Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Supreme Judicial Council member Gagik Jhangiryan.
Consequently, he is being proposed as a candidate for Prime Minister. Our sources indicate that during meetings, Kocharyan confidently asserts that this plan was conceived in collaboration with Nikol Pashinyan, although the Prime Minister personally prefers not to disclose this information.
It has not yet been confirmed how many MPs are willing to elect him after Pashinyan, but there have been prolonged reports suggesting that Andranik Kocharyan has a certain number of compliant MPs within the "My Step" faction.
According to our governmental sources, Kocharyan also states that President Armen Sarkissian would not oppose signing his appointment decree.
This information is reported by the "Pats" newspaper.
