We Must Unite Around the Rescue of Amulsar, Regardless of Our Place of Residence: Environmentalist
Environmentalist Shirak Buniatyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Most of the fallen soldiers in Jraghank, Varanda, and many other areas of Artsakh had never been there and, for the first time in their lives, they sacrificed their lives in those places. From their windows, they couldn’t see those communities, and most of them had no acquaintances, relatives, or friends in those areas. People were there with the realization that this is their homeland and the gate of their home.
Now it is Amulsar’s turn. Our country’s water resources, the existence of Lake Sevan, the fate of the beautiful spa town of Jermuk, and ultimately the right of thousands of our compatriots to live safely are at stake. We must unite around the rescue of Amulsar, regardless of where we come from, whether we see Amulsar from our window or not, and whether we have acquaintances or friends from Jermuk or not, we must realize one thing. Amulsar is our homeland, and this struggle is not between the government and environmentalists. Here, the future path and destiny of Armenia are being decided.
This is a struggle between democracy and tyranny. Just remember, our heroic boys fell for a land where most of them had never been, but they fell with the realization that this is their homeland. The sacrifices of the boys will only make sense if we, setting aside our difficulties, continue to live on our land. To live and create, to preserve and enrich. However, in order to live, a living space is needed, which unfortunately is very limited. Amulsar is the heart of Armenia’s waters, and it must remain untainted. This government will pass, but the noble Amulsar will remain standing.”
