VIDEO: Court Rejects Request for Criminal Case Against Nikol Pashinyan

The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, presided over by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, today, February 24, rejected the appeal by lawyers Hovhannes Khudoyan and Aram Orbelian demanding the initiation of a criminal case against Nikol Pashinyan.

Lawyer Khudoyan stated in a conversation with reporters that part of the criminal case should have been opened, while the other part should have provided a reasoned decision to the lawyers. He emphasized, “In any case, the investigator can make a decision based on a report and refer to another decision, and that person does not know whether the decision exists or not. We expect that all such rejections will have proper justifications moving forward, presenting all the grounds on which the decisions are based, so that individuals can understand their options for appeals.”

It is worth mentioning that lawyer Aram Orbelian had submitted a report to the Special Investigative Service regarding Pashinyan's statements. The lawyer demanded the initiation of a criminal case under several articles of the RA Criminal Code, including Article 137 (threat of murder, causing serious injury or destruction of significant property), Article 226.2 (calls for public violence), Article 332 (obstruction of justice), and Article 344 (slander against a judge, prosecutor, investigator, or enforcement officer).
