One of the Youths Who Fired Shots During the Wedding Was the Groom's Brother, According to the Mayor

I did not hear any shots, and I was not present at the wedding ceremony. Guvid Avetisyan, the head of the Tsakqar community, stated this in a conversation with ArmDaily.am regarding the gunshots heard in the community.

"I don't know whether those gunshots were a result of joy or a dispute; I am not informed about the shots. From the information I have, they shot into the air out of joy," said the mayor.

When asked whether the youths responsible for the shots had engaged in similar behavior in the past, Avetisyan responded, "No, no, the village is very peaceful; there is no hostility among residents. The individuals who fired the shots were the brother of the groom—I don't know if he is a biological brother or the son of an uncle. I have never heard of them using weapons before, nor have I been a witness to such incidents."

He also noted that he has no information regarding the arrest of the youths.

For context, shots were fired yesterday, February 23, in the yard of the 'Gohar' wedding hall located in the administrative area of the Tsakqar village in Gegharkunik Province. Police quickly determined that a wedding ceremony had taken place hours earlier at the hall, during which two participants, 27-year-old S. Sirakanian and 29-year-old A. Yephremyan, displayed open disrespect towards society by firing their hunting rifles into the air.
