Iran's Hidden Facility 'Deeply' Concerns IAEA

Iran’s atomic power plant: The hidden facility is causing 'deep' concern to the IAEA.

Tehran continues to accumulate low-enriched uranium, with the quantity now exceeding the limits allowed by the 2015 agreement by 14 times.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed 'serious concern' regarding the possible presence of nuclear materials at an unreported Iranian site, according to a report by France-Presse received on February 23 in Vienna.

These remarks come in a tense context, as Iran has begun to limit UN agency inspections due to the American sanctions' lifting, following a deadline set by Tehran.

The IAEA has already noted in its November report that the Islamic Republic’s explanations are 'not credible.' This storage site is located in the capital’s Piruzabad district.

'The presence of human-made particles of uranium (from human activity) at this site clearly indicates the availability of nuclear materials and/or equipment contaminated with nuclear material,' the agency writes.

'18 months later, Iran still has not provided necessary, complete, and technically credible explanations,' it continues, specifying that its official, Rafael Grossi, who visited Tehran this past weekend, again expressed concern regarding a 'lack of progress' on this issue.

In early January, Iran announced uranium enrichment at 20 percent, marking one of its most striking advancements. A month later, it stated it was beginning the production of metallic uranium for the fueling of its research reactor in Tehran. However, this material could be used in the production of nuclear weapons.

Despite Iran's denials, it has been accused, including by its sworn enemy Israel, of seeking to develop atomic weapons.
