The likelihood of exploiting the Amulsar mine is high, says Pashinyan
The likelihood of exploiting the Amulsar mine is high, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in an interview with Nver Mnatsakanian. When asked whether the post-war situation had changed his attitude towards Amulsar, the Prime Minister noted that his perspective had not changed because he holds the same opinion as he did a year ago.
“By the way, I want to remind you that I considered the security component very important concerning Amulsar, saying that look, we are in a wartime situation and when a war starts, the flow of tourists to our country will not continue. At that time, we might face currency issues. In that situation, it is specifically the mining industry that guarantees foreign currency inflows for the country. Time has shown that. But on the other hand, I can state that we also managed to properly manage the financial market, and as a result, we had the issuance of Eurobonds in January, which was the most successful issuance in the history of the Republic of Armenia,” the Prime Minister said.
When asked if this means that there is a greater likelihood the mine will open after all, the Prime Minister responded, “There is such a possibility, and yes, we can say that it is high.”
