Roads in Armenia Closed: Lars Passes Closed for All Vehicle Types

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that several roads in Armenia are currently closed. The Berd-Jambrak highway is closed, as well as the road from the 'Amberd' high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to the Amberd Fortress and the road leading to Kary Lake.

In Syunik Province, all roads are reported to have areas of black ice. The M-2 interstate highway segment from Goris to Sisian (the Harjis-Shinuhayr section) is open for all types of vehicles.

Regarding Lars, information from the Emergency Management Department of Georgia’s Interior Ministry and the North Ossetia Crisis Management Center of Russia reveals that the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed (due to snowdrifts) for all vehicle types, with approximately 600 trucks stranded on the Russian side.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
