Establishment of Long-term Peace in Nagorno-Karabakh Depends on Proper Assessment of Current Situation, Aliyev

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has stated that the establishment of long-term peace will depend on the accurate assessment of the situation created after the end of military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Azerbaijan has restored international law and has practically created new realities in the region and in the world. I believe that the use of opportunities for establishing long-term peace and stability in the region will largely depend on the correct assessment of these realities by the countries of the region and major powers,” Aliyev said during a video conference with Ismail Serageldin, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and an Egyptian scholar and politician, as reported by the TASS news agency.

According to Aliyev, “Azerbaijan today demonstrates its readiness to close the page of enmity, hatred, and confrontation.” He added that they have already moved on to the process of restoring the region.
