Turkey Negotiations Have Never Been Halted or Frozen; They Continue as Planned
Amid pressure from the American side regarding Russia's S-400 air defense systems, Alexander Mikheev, the director of Russia's "Rosoboronexport," announced that negotiations with Turkey regarding the sale of the second batch of these systems are ongoing. This was reported by Ermenihaber.
“Negotiations regarding the purchase of the second batch of S-400 systems from Russia have never been halted or frozen. They continue as planned,” said the head of the Russian arms export company.
Dmitry Shugaev, the head of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, had also previously announced significant progress in negotiations with Turkey.
It is noteworthy that following Joe Biden's election as President of the United States, Turkey expressed its willingness to make certain concessions regarding the S-400 system, which had caused serious disputes in Turkish-American relations. Specifically, Turkey's Defense Minister Hulusi Akar stated that Ankara might not incorporate the S-400 air defense systems purchased from Russia into permanent combat readiness and might use them partially. Akar also added that Ankara would discuss this with its NATO partners and the United States.
