Road Conditions in Armenia: Snow, Blizzard, and Black Ice
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and difficult-to-pass roads across the territory of Armenia.
The Berd-Jambarak road is closed, along with the roads leading from the 'Amberd' high mountain meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to the Amberd fortress and to the Karch lake.
The Dilijan serpentine roads and Vardenyats mountain pass are closed for trucks with trailers, making them difficult for other vehicles to pass.
The Zorashen-Hatis road in the Kotayk region is also difficult to navigate.
Snow is falling in the towns of Kapan, Goris, and Meghri in the Syunik region, in Berd of the Tavush region, in Martuni of the Gegharkunik region, and in Tumanyan of the Lori region.
There are patches of black ice on the roads of Shirak region, in the Sisian-Zanger section of the Syunik region, and along the M-2 road leading to the town of Jermuk, particularly in the Saravan-Zanger and Elpin sections.
About Lars: According to information from the Department of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for passenger vehicles but closed for other types of transportation; around 615 freight trucks are stuck on the Russian side.
