SSS Arrests Ara Saghatelyan, Lawyer Says

Moments ago, staff of the NSS of Armenia completed a search of my client, Ara Saghatelyan, former head of the National Assembly staff, in his office and in two other adjacent offices, lawyer Hakob Yenokyan reported.

"Although three offices were searched, the basis presented was not a court decision, but a decision made by an investigator, which means that in accordance with Article 46 of the 6th point of the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, the personal office, equated to a residence, was searched without a court order, which is a gross violation of the Constitution of Armenia and the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.

After this 'search' was completed, my client, Ara Saghatelyan, was taken to the National Security Service. I will report on further violations related to the politically motivated case subsequently," the lawyer stated.
