Karen Bekaryan Is Denied His Right to Defense, Investigator Does Not Answer My Calls and I Cannot Enter the NSS, Lawyer Says
The National Security Service has completed a search of the home of Karen Bekaryan, co-founder of "Quartet Media" and a political analyst, and masked officers have taken him into custody. This was stated by Bekaryan's lawyer, Gor Mikayelyan, according to Tert.am.
In response to the question of why the NSS was conducting a search, the lawyer said, "The search of Karen Bekaryan's home was conducted within the framework of a criminal case initiated by the NSS, for which permission was granted by Judge Manvel Shahverdyan. It was noted that the case is related to some false publications made during the days of the war."
When asked whether the search was carried out in accordance with the established procedure and court decision, the lawyer said that he did not see any issues in that regard, but there were violations regarding the seized items. "Items have been seized not only that contain information — such as computers, storage devices, etc. — but also all possible electrical devices have been confiscated," he noted.
Gor Mikayelyan reported that he is now heading to the NSS and will provide further updates on the developments.
