Housing to be Built for Residents of Avetaranoc and Aknaghbyur Villages in Askeran Region

The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, has received a group of residents from the villages of Avetaranoc and Aknaghbyur in the Askeran region, which were occupied during Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh on September 27, 2020. This information was reported by the Main Department of Information of the Office of the President of the Republic of Artsakh.

The issues of displaced families and their joint resettlement options were discussed. President Araik Harutyunyan noted that the return of both Avetaranoc and Aknaghbyur, as well as other occupied settlements, remains on the political agenda of the authorities of Artsakh, but resolving the housing and other issues of displaced residents is currently a priority.

The President emphasized the preference for the resettlement of the residents of these villages on a group basis. During discussions with the residents of the two communities, several locations within the Askeran region were identified, with the final selection to be made by the residents together with representatives of state authorities. Subsequently, projects for the new settlements will be developed in a short period, and construction work will commence.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Urban Development, and the head of the State Committee for Cadastre and State Property Management.
