ECHR Deems Azerbaijan Citizen's Complaint Against Armenia Inadmissible
The European Court of Human Rights has released its decision regarding the complaint of Samadov against Armenia, in which the applicant alleged ownership of property in the Kelbajar area that he left in 1993. This was reported by the Armenian representation at the ECHR.
Samadov filed his complaint with the European Court in 2008, more than six years after Armenia ratified the European Convention on Human Rights. Furthermore, over 15 years had passed since the forced eviction from the property he allegedly owned.
“In such circumstances, even considering the applicant's refugee status, the European Court has deemed the filing of the complaint, six years after the ratification of the Convention, to be excessively late. The European Court has recognized the complaint as inadmissible,” the statement noted.
