Armenia Ready to Collaborate with Iran to Facilitate Trade with Third Countries, Says Minister of Economy

The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, has received a delegation led by Ali Vahdati, the Chairman of the Board of the Iranian National Innovation Fund, who are in Armenia for the ARMENIA-HI TECH EVENT.

Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Minister of Economy, Varos Simonyan, and the Iranian Deputy Ambassador to Armenia, Ali Mohammad Motaghi.

Welcoming the guests, Vahan Kerobyan noted that warm friendly relations have been established between Armenia and Iran; however, the bilateral cooperation in the economic sector has not yet reached the high level that both countries aspire to attain.

“We are ready to cooperate comprehensively with our Iranian partners so that we can attract large markets and organize trade with third countries for the benefit of the economic development of our countries,” stated Vahan Kerobyan.

The Minister of Economy mentioned that during his recent visit to Iran, he had numerous meetings with high-ranking state officials and representatives of the business community, during which the Iranian side emphasized its interest in expanding economic ties with Armenia and engaging in effective cooperation. This meeting is a logical continuation of the agreements reached in Iran.

Agreeing that the volumes of trade between Iran and Armenia are still insufficient, Ali Vahdati expressed hope that mutual steps will be taken in the near future to fully utilize the existing potential and opportunities.

Emphasizing that Armenia can serve as a suitable bridge for exporting Iranian products to the Eurasian market, Ali Vahdati opined that joint efforts could lead to the desired results.

Vahan Kerobyan affirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Economy to support Iranian companies in conducting effective operations in Armenia.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to undertake efforts to implement the agreements reached in practice.
