Ara Saghatelyan and Karen Bekaryan Arrested

The former head of the National Assembly staff, Ara Saghatelyan, and co-founder of "Karyak Media," analyst Karen Bekaryan, have been arrested. This was stated by human rights defender Ruben Melikyan during a conversation with journalists.

"I just spoke with attorney Hakob Yenokyan, who mentioned that investigative actions are currently taking place. Ara Saghatelyan and Karen Bekaryan have been arrested on three charges: inciting national enmity, instigating hostility among different layers of society, and violating the rules for distributing information during a state of martial law," Melikyan said.

It should be noted that Saghatelyan and Bekaryan are facing charges under Article 226 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (inciting national, racial, or religious enmity), Article 226.2 (public calls for violence, justifying or advocating violence publicly), and Article 307.4 (violating the rules for publishing or disseminating information during the legal regime of martial law).
