Ara Aivazyan Holds Phone Conversation with Indian Foreign Minister
On February 19, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan held a phone conversation with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, expressing satisfaction with the high level of Armenian-Indian relations based on traditional friendship and mutual understanding. Both sides showed willingness to make practical efforts to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation.
The foreign ministers emphasized the established mutual support and close cooperation between Armenia and India within the framework of international organizations. In this context, Minister Aivazyan congratulated Minister Jaishankar on India's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, expressing confidence that this membership would serve the promotion of common goals of peace and security.
Ministers Aivazyan and Jaishankar also discussed security and peace issues in each other's regions. They both underscored the imperative of a peaceful resolution of conflicts that addresses the interests of all parties involved. In this regard, Ara Aivazyan expressed gratitude to his counterpart for the solidarity shown to the Armenian people during Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh.
The heads of the foreign policy departments of Armenia and India exchanged opinions on overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and international cooperation in this process, noting that unity should be a priority in the fight against the pandemic. In this context, Minister Aivazyan highly appreciated the support provided by India to Armenia during the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of the previous year.
