Spitak Passes in Lori Province Impassable for Cargo Trucks
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in Armenia. Closed are the Vardenyats Pass (due to blizzard), the Berd-Jambarak road, and the roads from the 'Amberd' high mountain weather station in Aragatsotn Province towards Amberd Fortress and Lake Kharij.
The Dilijan Pass is closed for trucks with trailers and difficult for other vehicles. The Vanadzor-Dilijan, Tashir-Privolnoe, and Spitak-Gyumri roads are also difficult to transit, while the Spitak passes in Lori Province are impassable for cargo trucks.
In Shirak and Syunik Provinces, there is some black ice on the roads. Snow has fallen in the Saravan-'Zanger' section (due to blizzard), in Vayots Dzor Province, the towns of Vardenis and Jambarak in Gegharkunik Province, and in the regions of Aparan, Aragatz, and Talin in Aragatsotn Province, as well as in the towns of Goris and Kajaran in Syunik Province. Fog has been reported in the Spitak passes of Lori Province and in the city of Goris in Syunik Province.
Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles, with around 550 stuck cargo vehicles on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
