Out of Over 6900 Damaged Buildings in Artsakh During the War, 45 have been Completely Destroyed
As of today, a total of 6943 buildings have been registered as damaged due to shelling during the 44-day war in the territory of Artsakh, with 4435 of these located in Stepanakert. This information was shared with Armenpress by the Minister of Urban Development of Artsakh, Aram Sargsyan.
“In particular, in the Askeran region, 250 buildings were recorded as damaged due to the war, in the Martuni region 1300, and in Martakert 658. Reconstruction and renovation works have begun on 600 buildings in Stepanakert, with work completed on 270 of them already. In Askeran, construction has finished on 20 out of 50 buildings, in Martuni 72 out of 210, while in Martakert, restoration work is ongoing for 7 out of 46 buildings,” Sargsyan detailed.
Currently, construction work is underway on a total of 930 residential buildings across the territory of Artsakh. Replacement work for windows and doors damaged by shelling has taken place in the apartments of 2620 citizens, and building materials have been provided to 1915 residents,” said the Minister of Urban Development.
According to expert conclusions, specifically in Stepanakert, a total of 23 buildings have been completely destroyed due to military action, for which designs have already been commissioned and construction work will soon begin. In Martuni, 17 homes were completely destroyed, in Askeran 5, while no completely destroyed houses have been recorded in other regions of Artsakh.
“Renovation and reconstruction works are also underway in the old housing stock in the capital and regional centers. It is planned that by May of this year, fully prepared sites for 1500 quickly assembled construction houses will be available,” the Minister of Urban Development of Artsakh added, noting that construction works are being carried out by a total of 112 organizations throughout the republic.
