One of the Largest Political Families Addresses the Issue of Prisoners of War and Exchange of Remains of the Deceased: Armen Ashotyanu

Today, a meeting of the executive body of the International Center-Right Democrats (CDI) was held, during which a resolution on the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed and adopted. This was announced by the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan.

“Thanks to the efforts of the Republican Party of Armenia and in collaboration with the Heritage Party, we have managed to include several important proposals in the resolution. In particular, one of the largest political families has emphasized the importance of the OSCE Minsk Group's role in establishing long-term peace in the region. It addressed the issue of the exchange of prisoners of war and the remains of the deceased. There was a call for a proper investigation of war crimes and for those responsible to be punished. It urged Azerbaijan to respect the rights of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh and to preserve the region's religious and cultural monuments.

The resolution refers, among other things, to the provisions of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (which I remind includes the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination as a principle of resolution), as well as to the statement of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on December 3, 2020, reaffirming the importance of the fundamental principles and elements for the resolution of the Artsakh issue,” wrote Ashotyan.
