Director of the Copper-Molybdenum Plant's General Repair Workshop Murdered
On February 18, a murder took place in the Syunik region. At around 00:50, the Kapan Police received a call from an unknown citizen stating that a resident of 10 Abovyan Street was chasing a burglar who had entered his home.
Some time later, the Kapan branch of the police received a report from the Kajaran Medical Center that the body of a man had been transported to them with signs of head injuries. According to Shamshyan.com, police determined that the deceased was 59-year-old A. O. from 10 Abovyan Street in Kajaran.
An investigative team from the Syunik regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee also arrived at the scene in response to the report. Sources indicate that the deceased's son, 29-year-old M. O., had called his father several times, but his father did not answer. The son then visited his mother, and when he attempted to enter the house, someone inside did not allow him in. That person later opened the door and fled, prompting the son to chase after him.
Unable to catch the individual, the son returned home and discovered his father in the basement, with bodily injuries and tape binding him. The son immediately called for an ambulance, but his father died after being transported to the hospital.
According to reports, the deceased worked as the head of the general repair workshop at the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine, while his son, M. Voskanyan, serves as the deputy head of the dispatch department at the same plant.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Syunik regional investigative department under the first part of Article 104 of the Armenian Criminal Code. Based on the investigator's decision, several examinations have been ordered, including forensic medical examinations. It is not ruled out that the act may be reclassified, and additional criminal charges may also be filed under different articles of the criminal code.
