114 Million Drams Allocated for Addressing Issues Related to People and Soldiers During Military Actions: Minister

During today's government session, the executive reshuffled the 2021 state budget and allocated 954 million drams for the fulfillment of previously undertaken obligations. Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan mentioned that the funds are intended to ensure the fulfillment of obligations for the months of December, January, and February.

“99 million drams will be directed towards the fulfillment of some obligations arising from the autumn wheat subsidy program last year. 165 million drams will be allocated for the reimbursement of the export duty on brandy spirit. 114 million drams will be directed towards addressing issues related to people and soldiers during military actions. 543 million drams will be directed towards the treatment, care, and provision of food for people with COVID-19,” said Vahan Kerobyan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan inquired whether the export volumes of brandy spirit have occurred to justify the reimbursement of that duty, to which the minister responded, “This is reimbursement for last year's export duty. We have allocated 900 million drams this year, which is aimed at a program to promote the export of 9 million liters of brandy spirit.”

Vahan Kerobyan emphasized that this program has a cascading effect, including on the development of viticulture and agriculture. “It has been two years since grape growers have blocked roads or dumped grapes. Considering last year's severe situation concerning the export of brandy and wine, this brandy spirit program is crucial for ensuring the integrity of purchases,” the minister noted.
