Government's Actions for the Return of Prisoners Are Insufficient, Says Former ‘My Step’ MP
I am not deeply aware of how negotiations are being conducted or what actions are being taken, but to put it briefly, one can say that it is insufficient, even less than sufficient. This was announced by MP Vardan Atabekyan during a conversation with reporters regarding the return of prisoners.
According to the MP, the issue of prisoners should have been the first point in the agreement. “As long as the prisoners are not returned, the delimitation process should be halted. Azerbaijan does not fully comply with the point regarding prisoners, while we obediently fulfill all other points, which is incomprehensible to me,” he noted.
The MP does not believe that the government does not want to resolve the prisoner issue. “As for how much the remaining steps hinder the resolution of this issue, they will know themselves. You may have a strong desire to solve the issue, but your other actions may hinder it. The agreement you signed, if you have fulfilled the remaining points and left the prisoner issue unresolved, does not give you strength; it hinders your ability to address this matter. But I still want to emphasize that the government definitely wants to resolve the prisoner issue more than anyone,” he stated. “We also did not understand why this issue was not discussed in Moscow.”
