Why is the Ministry of Defense Hiding Border Incidents? - 'Pats'
The Armenian Ministry of Defense issues statements almost daily, claiming, "No border incidents have been recorded along the entire length of the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line; the operational situation has not changed." However, according to information from local sources, border incidents are reported in various parts of Syunik, as discussed by residents and community leaders.
The Human Rights Defender has also released relevant videos showing Azerbaijani armed personnel firing from both small and large caliber weapons in direct proximity to the villages of Syunik. Just a few days ago, an incident occurred between a shepherd from Khndzoresk and Azerbaijani soldiers, where the latter had stolen sheep and then returned them after negotiations with border guards.
Various mayors speak of periodic gunfire from Azerbaijanis and other continual acts of aggression. In short, there is no shortage of border incidents, yet the Ministry of Defense continues to assert otherwise, while the political leadership remains silent, preoccupied only with editing statuses regarding earthquakes. This situation has further angered the people of Syunik, and not just them.
