VIDEO: France TV's Extensive Report on Armenian Monasteries in Iran
France TV has presented an extensive report-film about three Armenian monasteries located in Iran as part of its "Chrétiens orientaux" (Oriental Christians) series. The film features the Saint Thaddeus Monastery, an Armenian monastic complex situated in northern Iran, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Notably, on December 17 of last year, UNESCO decided to include the application submitted jointly by Armenia and Iran for the "Pilgrimage to the Monastery of Saint Thaddeus the Apostle" in the representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Next, the report presents the Saint Stephen’s Monastery, a 9th-century Armenian religious complex located in northern Iran, 15 kilometers southwest of the city of Julfa, on the slopes of Mount Magharda, rising on the right bank of the Araks River. This monastery was also inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008 alongside the Saint Thaddeus Monastery and the Qareh Kelisa Monasteries, under the designation "Armenian Churches in Iran."
Finally, the report includes the Saint Bethlehem Armenian Apostolic Church, located in New Julfa, Isfahan Province, which belongs to the Diocese of Isfahan of the Cilicia Catholicosate.
