I Consider That We Have Won the War: Gnel Sargsyan
I believe that we—the people, our soldiers, our volunteers, our Armenian women working tirelessly, our Armenian children selling walnuts, and our diaspora supporting their brothers and sisters from various countries—have won this 44-day war. I consider that we have won this war. This was stated today by Gnel Sargsyan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ party’s council and an actor, during a rally in support of the current government in Gyumri.
“We lost the battle, but we have won the war thanks to our unity. They are trying to prove the opposite, to demonstrate the contrary, trying to fight against the people. Of course, they cannot, because we are united,” he said, responding to the opposition's calls for the people to be united. “Dear ones, I don't know which people you are talking about, but our people are united.”
Sargsyan noted that there is some despair and a heavy atmosphere, but that is natural for a country that is creating an army from almost nothing. “And two years later, the enemy attacked it. A heroic struggle lasted for 44 days, even as you were dismantling it during that time,” he added.
