Mars, Nestlé, and Hershey to Face Court Over Child Slavery Allegations
Major chocolate producers Nestlé, Cargill, Barry Callebaut, Mars, Olam, Hershey, and Mondelēz will face court over allegations of enslaving children. The Guardian reports that the lawsuit has been filed in a Washington court by the International Rights Advocates legal organization on behalf of eight individuals originally from Mali who were previously engaged in slavery.
The eight individuals claim they were used as slaves on cocoa plantations in Côte d'Ivoire during their childhood.
