Epicenter of Earthquake Located 2 km North of Nubarashen Administrative District; 46 Aftershocks Recorded
We are experiencing aftershock activity, which is gradually subsiding. Approximately 46 aftershocks have been recorded. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The population is urged to remain outdoors in open areas. Additional information will be provided.
As of now, the National Crisis Management Center has received around 1,310 different alerts. Of the alerts regarding collapses, two have been confirmed: one on Ayvazovsky Street in Yerevan (9 square meters of wall collapse from a single-story building, and 7 square meters of roof collapse) and one on Smbat Zoravari Street (2 square meters of wall collapse).
The preliminary data regarding the presence of an injured citizen on Ayvazovsky Street has been denied.
On February 13 of this year, at 15:29 local time (11:29 GMT), the seismic network of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of Armenia registered an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 at a depth of 10 km, with geographic coordinates 40.11°N latitude and 44.54°E longitude, located about 8 km southeast of Yerevan (approximately 2 km north of the Nubarashen administrative district). The intensity of the seismic tremor in the epicentral zone reached 6-7 points.
The earthquake was felt in Yerevan at an intensity of 5-6 points and in the regions of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Shirak, Armavir, Kotayk, and Vayots Dzor at an intensity of 3-4 points.
