Military Reveals Text Message Required for Launching Iskander

The command for launching a missile from the "Iskander" complex is received via the following text message: "Go to 1st readiness." Military personnel refer to it as an "SMS." This was reported by missile operators during exercises in the Kursk region, as stated by RIA Novosti.

It is noted that the message also has an invisible component that contains the target coordinates, as well as a collection of numbers and symbols. After receiving the SMS, calculations begin in the complex's cabin, and the received code is entered into the onboard computer.

"After that, the commander presses the 'Mode' button, after which the machine operates autonomously: it activates the missile gyroscopes, lowers the supports, opens the roof, raises the missile, and so on," military personnel explained.

The preparation for missile launch takes 8 minutes, during which the command can be changed for 7 minutes. One minute before launch, a chemical reaction begins in the missile engine.

The 'Iskander' complex is designed to destroy extremely important enemy targets with high precision at distances of up to 500 km. The missile's flight speed exceeds the speed of sound by nearly six times.
