Georgia to Restore Russian-Bombed Airport with Turkey's Help

Georgia will restore the Marneuli military airport, which was bombed by Russian forces in 2008, with funds provided by Turkey. The airport will be rebuilt using financial resources allocated by Turkey.

In October 2020, Turkey had already provided Georgia with $14 million for military expenses. “The funds allocated for military needs will be spent on purchasing goods and services, ideally from Turkish companies, and the modernization of the Marneuli airport will also be carried out,” stated a declaration from the Georgian Parliament's Defense and Security Committee.
