Vardenis-Martakert Road Will Not Open: Russian Foreign Ministry

During a briefing, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, responded to an Armenian journalist's question regarding the possibility of reopening the Vardenis-Martakert and Martakert-Stepanakert roads. The journalist inquired whether this issue could become a topic of discussion, especially considering that the trilateral statement mentions the unblocking of roads in the region.

Zakharova stated that if these routes pertain to the area under the responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers, the question should be directed to the Ministry of Defense. She reminded that according to point 6 of the statement made by the leaders of the three countries on November 9, 2020, the connection between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia is carried out via the Lachin corridor.
