Investigation Launched Against Armenian Human Rights Defender in Turkey for Insulting Erdoğan

An investigation has been launched against Armenian human rights defender Arlette Natali Avazyan for making insulting statements about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This information was shared by Avazyan on Twitter, along with documents regarding the initiation of the investigation, as reported by Ermenihaber.am.

It is noted that between 2014 and 2018, Avazyan made eight derogatory posts about the president on Twitter, which have been classified as criminal offenses. This is not the first time an investigation has been launched against Avazyan; she has frequently been detained for sharply criticizing Turkish officials.

In October 2019, Avazyan made a post about Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Twitter, sharing a family photo from 1998 and stating, “They were known as 'Kurdish thieves' in the southern Antalya region.”

It is noteworthy that Arlette Natali Avazyan has 175,000 followers on Twitter, and her number of posts exceeds 230,000.
