How the Issue of Contract Servicemen's Lost Property Will Be Resolved
Support will be provided to contract servicemen who have lost property while residing in areas under Azerbaijani control. It is noted that, as a result of the military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh on September 27, 2020, families of contract servicemen who were actually living in service apartments in these areas have suffered material losses. They left behind their personal belongings, furniture, clothing, household appliances, and vehicles in these apartments but are deprived of any opportunity to benefit from state support programs.
To address this issue, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia has presented a draft decision to establish the rules and conditions for providing support. Incidentally, yesterday, independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan announced that several citizens and organizations had contacted her, stating that their property had been used by the army during the war and is now either damaged or non-existent. She subsequently inquired from the government about the programs developed to compensate for their property or replace it anew.
In response to the MP's question, Armenian Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan noted that this issue is being studied. “We are currently receiving the relevant data, which, after analysis, will lead to a decision or compensation,” he stated.
