Damage to Civil Infrastructure in Artsakh Estimated at $200 Million
The damage to civil infrastructure in Artsakh, including the destruction of residential buildings, has been estimated at $200 million. This was stated by Marta Danielyan, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Urban Development of Artsakh, in an interview with NEWS.am on February 11.
She clarified that since November 16, construction and renovation works have been underway to restore the remaining housing stock, as well as to install lightweight construction houses for displaced citizens. In the Kolatagh area of the Martakert region, 22 residential buildings are being constructed.
“We receive the most applications from the residents of the Martakert region. During the restoration works, windows and heating systems are installed first, followed by works on the interior decor of the houses. We are cooperating with more than 90 organizations. Assistance is also being provided by the Russian side, the 'Hayastan' All-Armenian Fund, and individual benefactors,” added Danielyan.
It is noteworthy that on September 27, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an offensive along the entire length of the contact line, grossly violating the norms of international humanitarian law and undermining the logic of peaceful negotiations for resolving the conflict, using missile and artillery weapons and aviation, targeting the positions of the Defense Army and the peaceful settlements in Artsakh.
