The European Union Notifies Armenia: The Ratification Process of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement is Completed
On February 10, 2021, the European Union informed the Republic of Armenia about the completion of the ratification process of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Armenia and the EU member states. The agreement will enter into full force on March 1 of this year.
Signed on November 24, 2017, during the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels, the agreement elevates the bilateral relations between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union to a new partnership level. It regulates dialogue in political and economic fields, as well as sectoral cooperation and trade relations.
The CEPA is a comprehensive document that establishes a solid legal basis for Armenia-EU partnership, outlining cooperation in various fields such as justice, security, economy, agriculture, infrastructure, environment and climate, education and science, culture, health, and more. The effective implementation of the agreement is expected to yield tangible results for our citizens by promoting democracy, strengthening political, economic, and social stability, and over time, it will impact the welfare and quality of life of our citizens.
It is important to emphasize that the CEPA addresses the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reaffirming the EU's stated commitment to support the efforts and approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs aimed at resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, particularly based on the principles of equality of peoples and the right to self-determination.
The Government of Armenia has repeatedly underscored its commitment to ensure the effective implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, which fully aligns with Armenia's extensive reform agenda.
