After 4 Years, 8 Months, 19 Days, and 12 Hours, Azerbaijan May Demand Russia's Withdrawal from Artsakh
Member of the National Assembly’s 'Enlightened Armenia' faction Taron Simonian reminded the Speaker of the Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan during today’s session that 4 years, 8 months, 19 days, and 12 hours is the time after which the President of Azerbaijan may demand, based on the trilateral statement, for the Russian peacekeeping forces to withdraw from the territory of Artsakh.
‘This is also the time for us to be prepared for such possible developments. I want to understand whether we are using this time effectively or not,’ Simonian posed a question to Mirzoyan, adding that none of the 16 items on the agenda of the session adequately address the challenges facing Armenia.
The Speaker of the National Assembly agreed on the necessity to respond adequately to the challenges but added that other institutions of the Republic of Armenia are dealing with this issue. 'The question you pointed out should be directed to the heads of relevant departments. The National Assembly has its role in various processes, but fortunately or unfortunately, the daily responsibilities of the National Assembly have not been canceled by anyone. We cannot focus solely on one issue,' said Mirzoyan.
It is noteworthy that the agenda of the session includes a series of legislative packages such as amendments to the 'Law on State Border', changes and amendments to the 'Law on Local Taxes and Fees', amendments to the 'Law on Local Self-Government in the Republic of Armenia', amendments to the 'Law on Local Self-Government in Yerevan', changes to the 'Law on Public Council', as well as amendments and changes to the 'Law on Education' and the 'Law on Higher Education', and the issue of electing the President of the Court of Cassation.
